Ann Ball

Associate, Paralegal

Department: Medical Negligence

Location: Plymouth

Ann is an Associate, Paralegal in the medical negligence claims department, assisting Elizabeth Smith with a wide variety of complex legal claims. She has previous experience in both personal injury claims and family law, and has been a member of Wolferstans’ Medical Negligence Department since 2008.

Ann initially joined as a new client co-ordinator and dealt with potential new clients from their initial enquiry up until the point where funding arrangements were finalised.

During her time in this role Ann recognised how upsetting and traumatic it can be for patients who have suffered injuries as a result of negligent medical treatment and understood how daunting it can be for some clients to approach solicitors regarding their claim. Ann was always available to offer clients reassurances and answer any questions.

In 2015 Ann developed her career by becoming a paralegal, assisting Elizabeth Smith with a wide variety of claims, including delays in diagnosis and/or treatment of cancer misdiagnosis claims, injuries sustained by mother or child at birth claims, and delays in diagnosis of infection resulting in amputation claims.

Ann is currently assisting Elizabeth Smith to investigate complex cerebral palsy claims, spinal injury claims, and Group B Strep claims, amongst many others.

In addition to assisting Elizabeth Smith with her caseload on a day-to-day basis, Ann remains involved in the new enquiry process by assisting, supporting and supervising our team of New Client Co-ordinators in both the Medical Negligence and Personal Injury departments.

It is very important to Ann that clients feel comfortable, confident, and supported during their claims, particularly during such a potentially difficult and sensitive time in their lives.
