Barry is a solicitor and partner in the medical negligence claims department. He specialises in complex, high-value brain and spinal injury claims and has particular expertise in acting for children and young adults who have cerebral palsy.

Barry is recognised as a leading clinical negligence solicitor and is currently a member of the specialist clinical negligence panel of the Law Society and a senior litigator for APIL, the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Additionally, he is approved by both the Spinal Injuries Association and Headway and works closely with the AvMA Action against Medical Accidents charity.

Barry has worked in the area of clinical negligence for over 30 years and is committed to going the extra mile to achieve the best possible result for those whose lives have been tragically affected by negligent medical care. He strives to ensure not only the best financial settlement possible but also to assist with early rehabilitation and acre to improve the quality of life for his clients.

Barry has been involved with Torbay Tigers Basketball Club for over 40 years, and is currently the Chairman and a coach, only occasionally gracing the Court in a playing capacity. He is a keen golfer and skier.

Barry has many years’ experience in investigating Cerebral Palsy claims on behalf of children and young adults.

He has previously investigated, or is currently investigating, Cerebral Palsy claims involving delays, or failure in the diagnosis or treatment of various conditions, including:

  • Hypoxia or asphyxia during labour and delivery
  • Failure to recognise the signs and symptoms of hypoxia
  • Cardiac problems during surgery
  • Jaundice
  • Hypoglycaemia
  • Infections
  • Meningitis
  • Meconium Aspiration
  • Group B Streptococcus claims
  • Failure to perform a timely Caesarean Section
  • Excessive force used in an assisted delivery (e.g. by forceps or ventouse)
  • Twin To Twin Transfusion Syndrome
  • Head and brain injury claims
  • Hypoxia due to choking or drowning
  • Stroke
