James is a Partner and Chartered Legal Executive acting exclusively for Claimants in relation to medical negligence claims, and industrial disease claims.
He has a degree in law from the University of Plymouth and has over 17 years’ experience in litigation, including more than a decade specialising in medical negligence.
Before joining Wolferstans in 2015, James worked in personal injury for a national law firm, where he supervised and developed a team of junior lawyers while maintaining his own caseload. His experience in acting for both claimants and defendants has given him valuable insight into the tactics employed by the defence in litigation.
James has been part of Wolferstans’ nationally recognised medical negligence team, since 2015. He is highly reviewed on platforms such as review solicitors and is known for calm, clear and compassionate approach. James supports clients through complex and often life-changing legal processes with professionalism and empathy.
James has experience in a wide range of medical negligence cases including delayed diagnosis claims, surgical error claims, GP negligence claims, loss of vision claims, and fatal negligence claims.
His recent work includes achieving settlements of £750,000+ for individuals affected by serious medical errors, including misdiagnosis.
He is committed to delivering regular, transparent updates throughout often complex and lengthy medical negligence claims, helping clients feel informed and supported every step of the way. His dedication to achieving the strongest possible outcomes, especially in emotionally charged circumstances, has generated heartfelt feedback such as:
“James has been my chartered legal executive for 7 years in a very traumatic case. James has kept me informed every step of the way and was extremely knowledgeable. James went above and beyond for my family and I’m eternally grateful for his support, help and guidance.”
And
“James Snell and his team guided my family and I through a clinical negligence claim following the death of my wife in 2022. Throughout the process, which was extremely hard to do, the team at Wolferstans constantly kept us informed and helped us at each stage. The advice was always clear and concise. Because of the complexity of the claim, it has taken a long time to reach a conclusion, but, after 3 long years we can now say we have managed to get a resolution for my wife who will always be missed.”
Outside of work, James is a keen sportsman and has represented Wolferstans in both cricket and rugby. He regularly participates in fundraising activities and is passionate about mental health.
If you are seeking trusted legal advice following negligent medical care, James offers clear guidance and dedicated support every step of the way.
