Julia is a Partner in the Education Team at Wolferstans.

Julia qualified in 1999 as a Commercial Property lawyer and became an Education lawyer in 2010. Since 2010 she has specialised in acting for education clients including Nurseries, Maintained schools, Academies, Further Education Colleges, Independent Schools and in Higher Education matters.

Julia is experienced in trust and academy conversion matters. She has acted for single stand alone schools and large multi academy trusts. She has advised on a broad range of matters including but limited to Exclusions, SEN appeals against schools being named in EHCP’s, Disability Discrimination Complaints and Tribunals, Subject Access Requests, Parental Complaints, Admissions, and SEN matters.

She is experienced in offering training and support for schools in contentious circumstances and has conducted independent investigations and governance reviews. She has spoken at various conferences and hosted a CEO forum in the west country for some time.

She trained in Plymouth and has worked for multiple Plymouth based firms before joining Browne Jacobson, where she led the South West Education Team and became head of the Exeter Office. Julia has been a governor and a chair of governors for a standalone secondary Academy School and has been a governor of a large Further Education College, both in the South West.

Outside of work Julia enjoys sailing on the estuary at Salcombe and at Starcross; on the Exe Estuary. She also continues to learn the violin and generally enjoys being active outdoors.
