Richard is a Litigation Assistant acting exclusively for claimants in medical negligence claims.
He has a background in medical negligence and personal injury litigation, including coronial law, and previously headed a legal services department in a major NHS acute hospital for almost twenty years.
This role gave him extensive experience investigating high-profile clinical incidents, knowledge which he now applies to the day-to-day management of his medical negligence caseload.
Richard has been assisting claimants with their medical negligence claims since joining Wolferstans in January 2011.
He runs a wide variety of claims, ranging from complex orthopaedic and surgical mishaps to relatively straightforward dental and prescription error cases.
Richard has investigated and succeeded in establishing negligence in a wide range of scenarios, including:
- Allergic reactions
- Cosmetic surgery mishaps
- Delayed diagnosis of cancer
- Dental claims, including misdiagnosis, inappropriate fillings, root canal treatment, cosmetic/restorative errors, nerve injuries and incorrect tooth extractions
- Failed sterilisation cases
- Falls in theatre and on the ward
- Fatal claims
- Inappropriate surgical procedures
- Medication prescription errors
- Misdiagnosis of orthopaedic conditions
- Premature removal of stitches
- Pressure sores
- Psychiatric injuries
- Retained surgical foreign bodies
- Secondary victim claims

Outside of work, Richard enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His other interests include ornithology, playing snooker, and gardening.
