Action Mesothelioma Day – 5 July 2013
Mesothelioma support groups throughout the country are organising a special event on Friday 5 July where patients, relatives and friends will remember those who have lost their battle with mesothelioma. Around 2500 people die in the UK each year from the asbestos related cancer of mesothelioma.
In Plymouth the South West Mesothelioma Group, based at the Macmillan Mustard Tree Cancer Support Centre at Derriford Hospital, have extended the invite to anyone affected by mesothelioma. They are welcome to attend the event at Saltram House, where there will be a cream tea, dove release and an opportunity to lay flowers at the mesothelioma memorial tree between 10am and noon.
Sarah Earl, mesothelioma and lung cancer nurse Specialist said: "This is an important date to help raise awareness about mesothelioma and the dangers of asbestos exposure. It is also an opportunity to come together to support all those people affected by this disease and to remember those who have died from it in the South West."
The South West Mesothelioma Group are one of Wolferstans nominated charities this year and they are also corporate sponsors and supporter of the national Mesothelioma UK charity.
