Wolferstans Strengthens Education Team with Green Appointment

Leading regional law firm Wolferstans, has announced the appointment of new partner Julia Green, an experienced education law specialist, whose arrival further strengthens the firm’s renowned Education team.

Recognised as a Leading Individual by respected ranking directory Legal 500, she joins after a decade at Browne Jacobson, bringing vast experience of advising on academy conversions and resolving issues for schools, academies and Independent Colleges.

James Twine, Head of Business Services at Wolferstans, commented: “Our ability to attract individuals of Julia’s calibre says a lot about where we are as a firm and more specifically, how well our Education Law team is now performing on a national basis.

“Julia is very well known in the South West and we are excited to bring into the team, her experience of advising on the full range of the Academy programme, including standalone convertors, sponsored convertors, creating new academy groups and acquisitions or mergers of multi academy trusts.

“Given that the South West has the most academies in the country, our success in the region is perhaps no surprise, but with Julia on board we can now look to replicate the team’s exceptional performance across the country.”

Wolferstans new Partner Julia Green said of her appointment: “It’s an exciting time to join the Wolferstans Education Law team, given it has enjoyed notable success in recent years, particularly for its work with Multi-Trust-Academies - which put the team on my radar.

“While Employment Law and staffing issues continue to dominate our work in the sector, the regular surprises ensure no two days are ever the same. Resolving property and estate management matters, dealing with governance and compliance issues, and ensuring regulatory compliance, all add to the growing workload of our efficient, responsive team.

“On the personal side, I am looking forward to helping grow the team and attract new clients seeking advice on the wide range of matters I specialise in, including GDPR and data protection matters, exclusions and admissions challenges, governance and pupil safeguarding.

“I’m passionate about education and take every opportunity to bring the business and education worlds together for mutual benefit. Although I have a lot of personal history in Plymouth, helping extend the reach of Wolferstans beyond the region will be very gratifying.”

Alisa Willows, Managing Partner of Wolferstans, commented: “We are at an important point in our strategic growth plan and the success of our Education Law team, recent new client wins and lateral hires of this quality, demonstrate the excellent progress the firm is making – with much more to come as our plans kick into high gear.

“It is critical that we continue to stretch our ambition within the South West as we grow our business and our reputation. I’m excited by the growing ability of every team within the firm to deliver legal excellence in everything we do, with every client’s unique needs at the heart of the decisions we make.”
