Associate, Solicitor01752 292320
Liz is a Solicitor and Associate within the Industrial Disease and Personal Injury department.
She qualified as a solicitor in 1995 and has over twenty years experience acting for individuals or their bereaved families; usually claiming compensation against their employers. Liz has gained a reputation for excellent client care and her clients often comment how compassionate and caring she is towards them, whilst at the same time taking a firm approach with the opposition to achieve ambitious settlements. Throughout her career, she has handled hundreds of successful cases.
Liz trained at Bond Pearce in Plymouth and then joined the personal injury team where she acted for many trade union members injured at work due to accidents or exposure to asbestos. She joined Wolferstans in 2015, after seven years working for national firm Lyons Davidson in the serious injury and fatal accident team.
Liz has particular expertise in asbestos claims including acting for clients suffering with asbestosis; pleural thickening; mesothelioma and asbestos related lung cancer; or those who have lost a loved one through asbestos related disease. She also represents families following fatal accidents and has over ten years experience in the highly specialist field of fatal accident/disease litigation.
Her clients report that they are kept well informed and find her very approachable.
Liz has also been involved in high profile professional negligence litigation and she is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
Outside of work Liz enjoys the beautiful Devon countryside: especially family walks on the coast or the moor, when her teenage sons can be persuaded!
“I can’t speak more highly of the help and advice received from Wolferstans – particularly Liz Makin who worked so hard to get the right result and kept us informed at all stages. I would certainly highly recommend Wolferstans as caring, understanding, knowledgeable and professional specialist lawyers.”

“I am very grateful to Liz Makin, who led me through a lengthy process with a professional but caring regard to our circumstances. Each stage and development but caring regard for our circumstances. Each stage and development was patiently explained, first with a phone call or email, where appropriate, immediately followed by a detailed letter confirming those facts. Queries were met with considered, sound advice. Delays were chased once a reasonable time was afforded to those concerned. I couldn’t have asked for more. We also previously chose this well established firm to process our Wills.”
Mrs Ellis, Plymouth
The service was excellent, it made my father and myself feel understood and valued as an individual. Nothing was too much trouble and we, as a family, felt in control and aware of what was happening at all time.
It was a lucky day when I contacted Liz Making in the wake of receiving the worst of diagnoses. Exemplary in her professional capacity and a very skilled negotiator, she is also a person of the highest emotional intelligence. Just brilliant.
Mr Major, Launceston

She understood how difficult is was but I was very pleased with the outcome.”
