Rebecca is an Associate in the Medical Negligence Department and who completed her training at a local Plymouth firm and joined Wolferstans in March 2017. She has substantial experience of handling both Personal Injury and Medical Negligence claims, having qualified as a Solicitor in 2007.
Rebecca deals exclusively for Claimants who find themselves a victim of negligence at the hands of a medical establishment and deals with a wide variety of multi-track cases ranging from negligent nursing care to incidents which have sadly led to a fatality.
Rebecca’s sympathetic and empathetic nature make her well placed to support victims and their families through what is often an extremely traumatic time.
Since starting at Wolferstans Rebecca has acted in respect of a multitude of claims and undertook the department’s first ever Mediation appointment which successfully concluded a claim that had been strongly defended from the outset. Rebecca always actively pursues any form of settlement for her client’s without compromising on the value of the claim.
Rebecca’s successes in clinical negligence are many and varied, and include recent settlements for several negligently performed surgeries, and recovery of a six-figure sum for a client with bowel cancer who sadly passed away following what was supposed to be curative surgery.
Rebecca is also growing an expertise in cases dealing with the issue of consent and has previously secured substantial damages for a client who underwent surgery on an asymptomatic condition which went terribly wrong leaving her client with a lifetime of pain and suffering to contend with.
Rebecca has previously been nominated for Plymouth Young Lawyer of the Year Award and plays an active role in the local community having formerly set up a Legal Clinic in the local area for members of the Armed Forces and continues this work at another local clinic run by Wolferstans for the benefit of military personnel and their families. She is also a Governor at a local primary school.
Rebecca works closely with, and is supervised by, a Partner within the department.
In her spare time Rebecca likes to keep fit with other members of the department, and otherwise enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, cooking, reading and the odd skiing holiday.
