Wolferstans are pleased to announce that they have raised a total of £6,000 in support of Special Olympics Plymouth and District (SOPD), their chosen charity for 2014.
SOPD provides a multi sports club each week for people with an intellectual (learning) disability. During the course of the year, Wolferstans rose to the challenge of competing against them in selected team sports and raised money by organising a number of events including a golf day, a sponsored cycle, a charity lunch and a barbecue.
John Chapman, Senior Partner said “It has been a pleasure to work with both the athletes and the volunteers at SOPD. Supported by the volunteers the athletes participate in a variety of sports and we are delighted that the money raised will enable two athletes to compete at this year’s World Summer Games in Los Angeles.”
Alan and Maureen Stockdale from SOPD said, "This fantastic sum of money raised by the staff at Wolferstans will make a huge difference to the club. We continually struggle to have our athletes accepted into mainstream sports clubs, including sessions with a coach, even though some are very talented. This money will now help us to purchase sessions with coaches, enabling our members to move forward and fulfil their dreams and ambitions. On behalf of our athletes, a huge thank you!"
