Asbestos is a fibrous material, widely used in construction, engineering, automotive and shipbuilding industries. When the fibres become airborne they can easily be inhaled into the lungs.
Long-term exposure increased the risk of illness, with most asbestos-related diseases taking between 20-50 years to develop.
Symptoms to look out for include Shortness of Breath, Chest Pains, Reduced Stamina, Weight Loss and hot and cold fevers.
