Deborah Black

Partner, Solicitor

Deborah is a Partner in our Commercial Property team and has significant experience dealing with the full range of commercial property matters, most recently specialising in development projects for affordable housing provider clients. Her expertise revolves around site acquisitions, site set ups and onward sales, commercial leases and refinancing. Deborah developed a particular specialism in development work whilst leading a specialist New Homes property team for 5 years. Deborah’s recent experience includes:

– Advising a large regional Registered Provider setting up a development site in North Devon with over 170 plots, involving two management companies and a mix of freehold, leasehold and shared ownership sales.

– Acting for a large regional Registered Provider acquiring a complex site in Dawlish for a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership units involving phased completions over a period of 2 years and requiring a s106 variation to include appropriate mortgagee protection clauses.

– Advising an SME setting up a lodge development site in Devon, selling 30+ leasehold holiday units, granting a commercial lease of an amenity block and dealing with ongoing lease assignments until the business was recently sold.

– Acting for a large regional developer on a development of 90 plots in Exeter including an affordable housing sale to a Registered Provider, management agreement and open market freehold and leasehold sales.

Deborah completed a Law and Business degree at Warwick University and the Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School before returning to the South West and qualifying as a solicitor at a Devon law firm. Deborah joined Wolferstans in June 2021 as a Partner in the Commercial Property team.

Deborah prides herself on getting to know each client’s concerns and priorities so that matters progress quickly and efficiently and clients achieve their desired outcome in their preferred timescale.
