James Snell

Litigation Assistant

James is a Litigation Assistant acting exclusively for claimants in relation to medical negligence claims under the supervision of a Partner and Head of Department.

He has a degree in law from the University of Plymouth and joined the profession in 2008 working exclusively in litigation since that time.

Prior to joining Wolferstans, James worked in personal injury for a national law firm where he was responsible for the supervision and development of a team of junior fee earners, whilst continuing to maintain his own case load of personal injury claims. He has experience in acting for both Claimants and Defendants and is well versed in the tactics defendants are likely to employ when dealing with litigation.

James joined Wolferstans in 2015 initially assisting an Associate Solicitor with a range of complex claims before progressing to managing his own case load.

James takes pride in developing good relationships with his clients; he is approachable and is always happy to take time to discuss any concerns that his clients have. The claims process can appear daunting and James strives to make this as understandable and stress free as possible.

James has a particular interest in conditions affecting the ears, nose and throat as well as orthopaedic injuries and injuries sustained through sport or trauma. However, he is experienced in a wide range of claims and has worked on claims including but not limited to:

  • Delayed Diagnosis of Cancer
  • Brain Haemorrhage
  • Hypoxia
  • Strokes
  • Corneal Ulcers
  • Retinal Detachment
  • Dental Claims
  • Cosmetic Surgery
  • Undiagnosed Fractures
  • Pressure Ulcers
  • Infection
  • Urological Injury
  • Genetic Conditions
  • Mismanagement of Medication
  • Mental Health/Psychiatric Injury
  • Surgical Mismanagement

James is a keen sportsman having represented Wolferstans in both Cricket and Rugby. He regularly participates in fund raising activities. James is very much a dog person and has an interest in mental health. This has lead to him providing some assistance to the charity ‘Veterans With Dogs’, who provide assistance dogs to Veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and other mental health conditions.

“My wife and I would like to say how much we appreciate the manner Wolferstans have dealt with our claim. At a time of great pain and distress, the attitude of Wolferstans staff has been a source of strength and confidence to my wife and I. We could tell anyone who finds themselves in a situation which you feel is not being handled properly, or, if you are not being treated the right way we would highly recommend Wolferstans. You will receive the best advice you could possibly get, the gentlemen who dealt with our case was amazing, especially when my wife was in tears every day.”
