Refund Scheme for Lasting Powers of Attorney

Refund Scheme for Lasting Powers of Attorney

Refunds for the Court Registration Fee. Have you claimed yours?

The Office of the Public Guardian register Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) and earlier in the year announced a refund scheme for those people who registered their LPAs between 1 April 2013 – 3 March 2017.

The Office of the Public Guardian believe there are over a million potential refunds due but less than 159,000 claims have been made so far. Clearly there are significant numbers of people who have not claimed yet.

If you made a Lasting Power of Attorney which was registered during this timeframe then we recommend you make contact to claim your refund. The refund can vary between £34 – £54 per LPA document depending on when it was registered. You, or your attorneys, can make the application through the online process and court appointed deputies or executors need to contact the OPG helpline.
