Changes to the Civil Court Process amid Covid-19
As the firm continues to closely monitor and follow all the relevant government and World Health Organisation advice, the Wolferstans Personal Injury department want to re-assure clients that we are still operating an uninterrupted service.
Although the firm’s teams are working on a full or partial remote basis, we remain fully operational and can resolve any issues you may have due to our agile working systems and polices.
During these uncertain times we believe it is important to update you on some of the notable changes to the civil court process moving forward. These being:
1. The new default position is that most hearings will be conducted with one or all of the parties attending via phone or other remote device; 2. The Courts are looking to expand the availability of technologies most notably video facilities including skype. However, for the time being most hearings will be done by telephone; and 3. It seems that many more procedural matters will be resolved on paper within the appropriate rules.
Should your case be impacted by any of these changes we will let you know as soon as we can.
The government guidance on court procedures can found here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-courts-and-tribunals-planning-and-preparation
For the avoidance of doubt, these policies may be subject to change, therefore Wolferstans will endeavour to keep you updated as soon as further guidance is given and adapt our systems appropriately.
This may be a challenging period for many of our clients, however we would like to re-assure you that we are operating effectively in these uncertain times.
The Personal Injury department would like to re-emphasise the firm’s assurance that we will offer alternative arrangements for client meetings so they can be dealt with via the telephone, skype or email.
For further clarity, please feel free to contact us as soon as possible by calling 01752 663295 or contact your assigned Personal Injury lawyer.
