Here at Wolferstans Solicitors, we are dedicated to ensure we offer equal opportunities as an employer.

Every year on 8 March, International Women’s Day, we celebrate the movement of women’s rights. This year, IWD are focusing on a gender balanced world, with the theme ‘Better the balance, better the world #BalanceForBetter’. It is important for businesses to offer equal rights to their employees and we strive to ensure we exceed these standards.

We are very proud of our staff and have taken the time to ask a few of the many empowering woman here, to answer a few questions.

Name: Alisa Willows

Briefly state position and what your job entails: Managing Partner, Wolferstans Solicitors. Member of the Board setting firm-wide strategic objectives; head of operations (IT, HR, compliance, premises); Working with each Head of Legal Practice on their departmental goals.

What have been the highlights of your career? Making a difference to individuals in times of personal crisis.

And the biggest challenge you have overcome? Balancing family and work commitments.

Your future goals? Keeping human at the heart of digital.

If you could go back 10 years and give yourself one piece of advice – what would it be? You don’t need to know all the answers; you just need to make sure you are asking the right people the right questions.

What does success look like to you? Effective teams who enjoy getting the best job done.

Name: Holly Bowditch

Briefly state position and what your job entails: Chartered Legal Executive, Wolferstans Solicitors. Working in Clinical Negligence, acting for people, seeking compensation or their family who have been victims of medical accidents. .

What have been the highlights of your career? Qualifying after 7 long years of training and studying.

And the biggest challenge you have overcome? The guilt of being a working Mum.

Your future goals? To continue to learn and develop as long as my brain will let me.

If you could go back 10 years and give yourself one piece of advice – what would it be? Patience really is a virtue, if something is meant to be then it will. It’s not all about the end result it’s about enjoying it along the way!

What does success look like to you? Someone who is happy both professionally and personally.

Name: Jo Draper

Briefly state position and what your job entails: Business Process Manager. Member of the Management Team. Working throughout the firm to achieve lean process and new IT initiatives.

What have been the highlights of your career? Helping achieve firm wide change management to deliver a better service.

And the biggest challenge you have overcome? Working with individuals to change mindsets.

Your future goals? To stay ahead of the game

If you could go back 10 years and give yourself one piece of advice – what would it be? You have to believe in yourself before you can expect others to.

What does success look like to you? A happy work life balance

Name: Angela Parsons

Briefly state position and what your job entails: Family solicitor at Wolferstans dealing with all aspects of family law but with a particular interest in children work and domestic abuse. I am a member of Resolution and an Accredited Specialist in Private law children and domestic abuse matters. I regularly assist clients both at the office and attend court to represent them at hearings.

What have been the highlights of your career? I thoroughly enjoy helping people and obtain a particular satisfaction in helping re-engage a parent with their child or keeping children and victims safe from domestic abuse. I am also really proud to have had an article of mine which deals with children and domestic abuse recently published in the book “101 Questions Answered When Separating With Children”.

And the biggest challenge you have overcome? Dealing with some very sad and difficult cases and making sure that they don’t impact on my home life and keeping a good work/life balance.

Your future goals? To continue assisting clients and to make a difference to them and to stretch myself further in my home life to achieve physical fitness goals.

If you could go back 10 years and give yourself one piece of advice – what would it be? Believe in yourself, trust your instincts and be proud of who you are.
