NO MORE Week: Together we can end domestic violence
Statistically, almost 1 in 3 women aged 16-59 will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime.
7th March marks the start of the ‘No More’ Campaign Week. This campaign’s goal is to end domestic abuse and sexual violence.
Domestic abuse can affect anyone in society, regardless of their background, gender, ethnicity or age. Abuse can encompass controlling or coercive behaviour, stalking, financial abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and so much more.
With reports of domestic crimes on the increase during Coronavirus pandemic, the campaign is more important than ever to raise awareness of domestic abuse and violence, in a bid to bring it to an end.
The ‘UK Says No More’ Campaign seeks to unite members of the public and organisations across the nation to take a stand against domestic abuse and sexual violence. There are a wide range of tools and resources available online here.
During the first three months of Covid lockdown restrictions, more than 40,000 calls were made to the Domestic Abuse Helpline. In June 2020, calls to the National Domestic Abuse Helpline were almost 80% higher than usual.
At Wolferstans, we are participating in the ‘No More’ Campaign this year. Staff are running the virtual 10k and spreading awareness of the campaign online. We are also actively trying to learn more about these issues and share resources and information.
We want to see an end to domestic abuse and sexual violence in the UK.
