Two significant announcements by Government

The Government has made two significant announcements this afternoon! Firstly, the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (furlough leave) grants have been extended until the end of June 2020, and secondly; the Government has finally confirmed that employees can be on holiday while on furlough leave. James Twine, Head of Business Services says “The position re holiday, is as we expected, and makes sense, but employees are entitled to be paid 100% of their wages for any days holiday. The Guidance is still silent on whether employers can require employees to take holiday during furlough leave, but I cannot see any legal reason why not, and expect this will be the case.
