Wolferstans Presented With Silver Award

Wolferstans Solicitors are proud to share the news that we have been awarded the 2016 Silver Award under the MOD Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme.

Wolferstans Solicitors is the first law firm in the Wessex area to win the Silver Award which recognises employers who actively support our armed forces community.

Wolferstans employs veterans, service families, a volunteer cadet instructor and is currently supporting colleagues through their applications to become reservists. Phil Thorneycroft, Partner and Vice-Chairman of Forces Law represented Wolferstans at Dartington Hall on 5th October to collect the award and says, “Wolferstans has throughout our 200 year history been proud to represent our armed forces community, we also recognise the transferable skills and experience that being in the armed forces provides and have a number of veterans working with us and we aim to do all we can to ensure that after a persons armed forces career has ended, Wolferstans continue to contribute towards their future. We are delighted to be announced as a winner of the Silver Award”.

Presenting the Award, HM Lord-Lieutenant congratulated the winners and stated, “Supportive employers are essential to successful UK Defence, so it is with great pleasure that I could recognise Wolferstans Solicitors at my annual Award ceremony this year for their support.”

Jon Beake, Employer Engagement Director at Wessex Reserve Forces’ & Cadets’ Association, added, “Wolferstans recent success in the Employer Recognition Scheme demonstrates their high levels of support towards Defence personnel, including Reservists, Armed Forces Veterans, their families, and Cadets. We value Wolferstans commitment and are keen to work with them to build further support for mutual benefit. We also hope that Wolferstans Solicitors will lead the way for other Devon businesses to follow.”

As well as our continued support to the wider armed forces community through RNRM Welfare, Armed Forces Weekend, Plymouth Armed Forces Corporate and Community Covenants, Royal British Legion and the Plymouth RN Recovery Centre, this year Wolferstans have also supported Plymouth Homes for Veterans as our Charity of the Year and we look forward to joining the Royal British Legion on 3rd November 2016 for their Plymouth City Centre Poppy Day Appeal.
