The Power Of Persistence – How Tony Fought For The Treatment He Deserved

Tony’s journey started with pain under his ribs that persisted for some time. Despite regular visits to his GP and trips to the hospital, he was repeatedly diagnosed with musculoskeletal pain, given painkillers, and recommended various exercises. This developed into periods of extreme back pain, and he could not lie down for nine months.

As time went on, Tony's pain continued to worsen. This prompted him to push for further investigations, but he faced numerous challenges along the way, including developing issues with bladder and bowel incontinence.

Tony had been referred for an MRI scan to determine the root cause of his symptoms. However, this request was rejected by the hospital without any valid reason. Despite attempts to rectify the situation, the radiologist at the hospital was unresponsive to Tony's plea for help.

As his pain and symptoms continued to worsen, Tony decided to take matters into his own hands and attempted to obtain a private MRI scan to finally get some answers. Finally, after months of fighting for the scan, Tony was able to have one performed at the hospital. It revealed that he had a non-cancerous tumour of the spine that required surgery.

Although the surgery was successful in removing the tumour, Tony still experiences extremely uncomfortable symptoms which affect his everyday life due to the permanent damage caused to his spinal cord.

Despite his long and strenuous journey, Tony remained determined to fight for the treatment he needed, and contacted our experts at Wolferstans Solicitors. Our specialist Medical Negligence team were there to support him every step of the way.
